So earlier in my blogging career I mentioned that I would like to introduce a fictional story to the blog. I think it’ll make it more interesting, and a departure from all of the other salt water aquarium blogs out there. If you guys like the idea, if you don’t like it, let me know with a comment.
I have decided to call my story “A Tail of Two Fishies” and lay it out in a soap opera like manner (I watched All My Children for like one summer, so that’s my entire experience with soap operas). Because we are in an aquarium setting, I’ve decided to make an island resort the set for this little tete a tete. On to the characters….
Now, I know you’ll all think I’m crazy for naming all of these fish and giving them personalities, but hey, I’m a writer. It’s what I do. We’ll begin with Sunny. Sunny is a yellow tail tang fish, and if you ever watch the web cam, you’ll notice that she’s a bit of a camera hog. This aspiring actress has a thing for Joey Beakfish (fish with long beak), but alas, she’s not the only one.
Natalia, a lionfish, is an acclaimed runway model who has graced the catwalks the world over. She and Joey have a torrid past. They also have a son, Patrick (the clownfish). Patrick is a bit of a loner, as many teenagers these days can be. Naturally, Sunny and Natalia aren’t the best of friends as both crave attention in general, and especially the attention of Mickey (orange tang), a lucrative business owner.
Joey may have a past with Natalia, but he is embroiled in controversy with a member of Sunny’s family. Her grandfather Melvin (striped fish) is blackmailing Joey in an effort to gain ownership of his marina, which is worth millions. It doesn’t help matters that Joey has always had a thing for Sunny…
Finally we come to Nadine (Pacific blue tang), who is the lucky lady belonging to Mickey. If you watch the web cam, you’ll see that she is always up in another fish’s business. Could this be that she’s a notorious gossip? Nadine is the aunt of the the Dott sextuplets (spotted damsels) who have a penchant for running around town and getting into trouble.
Are you intrigued? Check back in next week to see what a normal day in the life of these characters is like. I promise it won’t be anything close to boring!
