If you are looking for a reliable, durable filter for your salt water aquarium, then you can’t go wrong with the H.O.T. Magnum. This product works well, and is know to continue working well for years and years. Let’s learn a little bit about this amazing product. For all of you wondering, the salt water aquarium featured on this website does use a H.O.T. Magnum filter.
This silent filter actually does the work of two filters it its single, compact body. The system is light enough to actually hang on the back of your aquarium without causing any kinds of problems. The filter is also extremely portable, which is an advantage if you often move animals from tank to tank. The filter acts as a mechanical/chemical filter while still doing quick clean water polishing filtration. Up to two hundred and fifty gallons of water are pumped through the dual flow core each hour. The synchronous motor and epoxy-encapsulated electrical components keep both the species in your aquarium and you, the handler, safe from any kind of malfunctions.
When researching this product, I found mixed reviews. Most reviewers agreed that this was a great filter, but there were a few who disagreed. The topic that came up most often was the durability of this product. On Petco.com on user mentioned that his filter worked for 15 YEARS! Now that is a long time! Another reviewer mentioned that his filter finally died after four years of hard use. Both of these reviews speak to the superb construction of the product. I also found that reviewers found the system easy to set up, which is always a bonus!
The one detracting review that I found regarding this product was actually an all around bad review. The reviewer mentioned how the system was difficult to set up and had to have maintenance work performed nearly every week. The main complaint was that the filter just didn’t reliably maintain suction. With all of the other good reviews I found regarding this product, I wonder if this machine was just the bad apple of the bunch.
